Hullwebs History of Hull

Britain was known to the Romans well before the first invasions by Emperor Claudius in 43 AD. Traders and sailors told stories of fabulous rich lands that were occupied by 'shadowy' beings. On the eve of the invasion Britain was seen as a strange barbaric place, sitting on the edge of the world.
