R38 Crash As no actual images of the disaster existed, the fated airship was sketched on a selection of local photographs, by skilled artists, to produce this montage.

The crash of the R38/ZR2 resulted in the loss of 44 crew members when the airship broke-up at 17:37hrs on 24th August 1921. Only 5 survived the incident.
