20th Century Hull
Duke William of Normandy set sail across the English Channel on 28th September 1066, the invading Normans landing in Sussex, King Harold's army met William at Hastings, losing the battle and King Harold dead with an eye full of Norman arrow. Beverley was the largest settlement in Humberside at this time, but it didn't take long for Hull to catch up during the 1066 to 1215 time-span.
